Introduction
The 12V 3A 24W/36W UPS board is a high-power uninterruptible power supply module designed for 3S (3-series, ~11.1V-12.6V) lithium-ion or lithium-polymer battery packs. It automatically switches between charging the battery and providing power to the load. This module is designed to provide an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for various DC 12V devices, such as network transmitters, cameras, switches, and infrared devices. It features automatic switching between external power and battery power, along with battery charge and discharge protection.
Safety Information
- Always ensure correct polarity when connecting power sources and batteries. Incorrect connections can damage the module and connected devices.
- This module is designed for 3S (3-series) lithium battery packs or 18650 battery packs. Do not use with other battery types or configurations.
- Ensure the input power supply has sufficient capacity to power both the load and charge the battery simultaneously (sum of load power and charge current).
- The control board may generate heat during operation. Install it in a location with adequate ventilation and keep a certain distance from the battery to prevent overheating.
- Use appropriate wire gauges (at least 20AWG) for input and output connections. Keep wire lengths as short as possible, ideally under 10cm, to minimize voltage drop and resistance.
- Handle the module with care to avoid electrostatic discharge (ESD) damage.

Setup and Installation
Carefully follow these steps for proper installation:
- Prepare Wiring: Use at least 20AWG wires for all connections. Keep wire lengths as short as possible, ideally under 10cm, to ensure stable performance.
- Connect Input Power: Connect your DC 12V power supply to the IN+ and IN- terminals on the module. Ensure correct polarity.
- Connect Output Load: Connect your DC 12V device (load) to the OUT+ and OUT- terminals on the module. Ensure correct polarity.
- Battery Connection (Important - Last Step):
- For a standard 2-wire 3S lithium battery pack (positive and negative terminals only), connect the battery's positive terminal to BAT+ and the negative terminal to BAT-.
- For a 4-wire 3S lithium battery pack (with balance leads), you will need to remove resistors R16, R17, and R18 from the module before connecting the battery. Then, connect the battery's positive terminal to BAT+ and the negative terminal to BAT-, and connect the balance leads to V1, V2, V3, and Vss as indicated on the board.
Note: Always connect the battery as the very last step after all other connections are secure. This is crucial for proper operation and to prevent damage.
- Mounting: Install the control board in a location that allows for adequate airflow to dissipate heat, as the board will warm up during operation.
