Product Overview
The Active Infrared IR Obstacle Avoidance Sensor Module is a compact and reliable proximity detection device designed for robotics, DIY electronics, and automated control systems. The module consists of an infrared transmitter LED paired with a photodiode receiver. When an object comes within range, the emitted infrared light reflects back to the photodiode, triggering a digital output state change that can easily be read by microcontrollers.
Technical Description and Operation
Operating at a working voltage of 3.3V to 5V DC, this module incorporates an onboard LM393 voltage comparator circuit for precise signal processing. It includes an adjustable potentiometer that enables users to easily calibrate the detection distance between 2cm and 30cm. The sensor module features a 3-pin interface comprising VCC, GND, and Digital Output OUT, along with onboard LED indicators for power status and detection trigger notification.
Applications and Integration
This IR sensor module is ideal for autonomous robot navigation, line-following vehicles, smart liquid dispensers, object counting on conveyor systems, and touchless proximity switching. Its direct digital output simplifies integration with Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and other standard microcontroller platforms.
