Overview

The SPDT Glass Reed Switch is a versatile magnetically actuated switch configured with Form C Single Pole Double Throw contacts. Featuring both Normally Open and Normally Closed terminals, this hermetically sealed component allows flexible circuit switching in response to an applied magnetic field. The durable glass envelope isolates the internal contacts from atmospheric moisture, dust, and oxidation, ensuring stable operation and high contact reliability across millions of switching cycles.

Technical Functionality and Applications

This switch functions through magnetic induction using an external permanent magnet or solenoid coil. Upon exposure to a sufficient magnetic field, the internal common armature toggles from the Normally Closed position to the Normally Open contact. The switch handles up to 100V DC switching voltage and a maximum switching current of 0.25A. Its compact form factor makes it an excellent choice for security system door sensors, liquid level floats, proximity detectors, rotational counters, and ultra-low-power microcontroller wake-up circuits.
